Hertbeats

The Hertbeats Golf Society consists of a small group of Hertbeats members who are enthusiastic golfers. The Society meets up a few times during the year mainly in the summer. A favourite venue is Stockwood Park Golf Centre in Luton.

Members of ‘Heart to Herts’, the Hemel Hempstead cardiac support group, have been welcome to join our meetings.

• Golf Meet September 2026

  Although I say it myself, our Autumn meeting on 30 September was a great success. With rain, thunder and lightning forecast we had a beautiful warm sunny autumnal day. The course, the company and the food were a good foundation for a fun day.

  It was appropriate that Tony Artis was able to join us. Tony successfully started Hertbeats Golf back in 2003 but was soon to move to Bournemouth and left yours truly holding the fort.  After something over 20 years it is time for change.  So I am delighted to report that Warren has agreed take over as organiser from 2027. I will be pleased to provide Warren with any help he may need.

• Hertbeats Golf Day – 30 September ‘26

  Many thanks to those of you who have already indicated your availability for the Hertbeats Golf Day on Wednesday 30th September at Stockwood Park Golf Club.

  The Golf Day will follow our usual format. 

  9.15 – 9.30:         Meet for coffee and bacon roll

  10.00 – 10.30:      Tee off in teams of 3 or 4 playing a modified Texas Scramble.

  15.30 – 16.00:      Sit down for a two course meal.

  17.00:                  Prize giving and conclusion

  Please let me know your availability and food choices (see below) by 20th September.

  Main course:   Lasagne & garlic bread  or  Ham Egg and Chips

  Dessert:  Bread & butter pudding or Trio of Ice Cream

  Buggy:   Please let me know if you would like me to reserve a buggy for you.

  Costs:  £50.00  payable by 20th September, please.

• Golf Society Spring Meeting 2026

  The Hertbeats Golf Society Spring meeting will be on Wednesday 13th May. Please save the date.

  We will be playing at Stockwood Park Golf Club and following our usual format of coffee and bacon roll, team golf and a two course meal.

• Golf Meet October 2025

  Our Autumn meeting at Stockwood Park was a little later than usual due to work being carried out on the course. 

  However, after a dull start to the day, we were blessed with a bright sunny late morning and afternoon.  The autumn colours were just coming into their own. Sixteen players including our friends from Heart to Herts participated in a not too serious team competition. The golf was followed by a meal and recollections of the day’s events.

• Golf Meet May 2025

  Our luck held out with a glorious day for our Spring meeting at Stockwood Park. We had a good turnout and followed our usual format of coffee, bacon roll, golf and a two course meal. As previously, we played a “Texas Scramble” in teams of four. The informal golf was followed by prize giving and copious banter. A good day was had by all.
